Countryside Show in the City 20th May

An exciting new event that we would very much like you to be part of. - Lincoln City Community event

Green Synergy, a Lincoln based community gardening charity, is working in partnership  to organise  Lincoln’s first ever “Countryside Show in the City”.

This will be a family fun filled day that will bring the whole community together to celebrate all things food and farming; helping city residents experience a taste of the countryside. 

Lok out for:

• Food, Farming and Countryside- will include tractors, farm animals, countryside crafts such as spinning, wood turning; milking and food trade stands. This unique experience will give you a chance to get hands on and learn about how food is produced
• Main Ring- with a range of displays including the ‘Sheep Show’, dog agility, archery and marching bands
• Produce, Arts and Crafts Show - with local schools entires too
• Community - Local community groups will have stalls to promote their services, run taster sessions and encourage volunteering opportunities
• Environmental Sustainability - Local organisations to help people learn about environmental issues including conservation, wildlife, waste, recycling and climate change

Bastion in the Air - The Collection 26th May to 9th September 2018

The exhibition at The Collection will run from 26th May until 9th September 2018.

An entrance fee will be applicable but visitors will not need to book in advance. 

The exhibition focuses on the rising threat to Britain from air attacks by airships and aircraft, and on the British response, including the formation of the RAF in 1918. 

A number of museums in Germany are supporting this exhibition with information and artefacts. Lord Ashcroft is kindly lending us the original Victoria Cross awarded to Lt William Leefe Robinson for shooting down an airship over Hertfordshire, the first one destroyed over Britain by a fighter aircraft.  We will also be displaying a model zeppelin that is over 5 metres long. 

Learn about the contribution by Lincolnshire to British aircraft production during the First World War.  Many people – including native 'yellowbellies' – are not aware that Lincoln was one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturing centres at the time!
